As an apprentice carpenter, you build the structural components that hold major construction projects together.
You’ll learn to read project plans, measure and mark materials, then cut, shape, and assemble forms, frameworks, and fixtures. Your tools include hand tools, power saws, and specialized equipment — and the work demands precision on every cut.

This trade requires solid math skills, knowledge of materials and construction methods, and the ability to coordinate with other crews — concrete, electrical, plumbing — to get everything built right.
You’ll work on highways, bridges, and heavy infrastructure. The structures you build are designed to last decades. And you’ll see the direct results of your work every time you drive past them.
